| Accident damage versus lack of Maintenance |
Your insurance policy generally covers your vessel against accidental damage. However it may not cover you for damage caused by poor maintenance. That is why you have to have an insurance survey carried out by a surveyor who carries professional indemnity insurance.
If your surveyor misses an important item that later fails causing damage or loss, the Insurance company will quite rightly be looking to the negligent surveyor to cover the cost of repair/ replacement. So you get more than peace of mind when you have a vessel surveyed properly.
Lack of Experience is no excuse
A professional surveyor has a responsibility to complete his job to exacting standards. There is no room for error or negligence :someone's life may depend on his opinion being flawless. With over 37 years experience working with, and owning timber craft.
